SUPARCO held briefing on ongoing solar storm

ISLAMABAD, Aug 13 (APP):A special briefing session was arranged in the Satellite Ground Station and Satellite Control Facility of Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission,(SUPARCO) for media personnel.
The media was briefed on how Pakistan’s assets in Space are controlled in the Ground Stations and the media was also briefed about the benefits of remote sensing and Communication Satellite in the Socio economic uplift of the country.
The role of satellites in disaster monitoring, crop monitoring, weather forecast, telecommunications services etc was elaborated to the media.
Director SUPARCO, Ayyaz Ameen briefed the media about the ongoing solar storm.
To give a detailed insight and live view of the Sun’s surface the media also visited the IST Astronomical Observatory at the Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad, patroned by the  SUPARCO which represents a significant leap forward in Pakistan’s astronomical research capabilities.
Equipped with the largest astronomical and solar telescopes in the public sector, the observatory offers unparalleled resources for faculty, researchers, and students.
The media was briefed on the working of the telescopes and the observatory by Director National Center for GIS and Space Application Dr Najam Abbas.
